Valentino| Fall/Winter 2011-12 Ad Campaign

"Four women – young, dynamic, sensual - four different beauties, four different stories for the Valentino Advertising Campaign Fall/Winter 2011-12.

A unique aim: to show the timeless allure of an ultra-feminine character, graceful and delicate, elusive and entrancing.

David Sims - with the art Direction of Riccardo Ruini - imaginary once again to described the feminine and delicate spirit of the Maison. Introducing color in a very subtle way, never too strong, as a frame to the lightness of the fabrics, a pale atmosphere. Girls lying on the floor, or blurred in the background to give an overall mysterious mood. Shot in Villa Parisi (built in 1600) a beautiful location full of history that was Paolina Bonaparte summer residence. The decadence of the location is the perfect contrast to the contemporary collection.

Bulimic much?| Valentino Fall/Winter 2010/11 campaign

I am having a love/hate relationship with the Valentino Fall/Winter 2010/11 ad campaign. On one hand, the clothes look so absolutely divine and photographer David Sims did such a great job in capturing their beauty but on the other hand, the models look so sickly!
Valentino is known for creating classically beautifully gowns for a more mature not so anorexic looking audience. Though I have never seen models Freja Erichsen, Monika Jagaciak or Tati Cotliar in the buff, I have seen them fully clothed and they never appeared this fragile to me. Could it be that they were photoshopped or purposely positioned so that their bones protrude? Whatever the case maybe, I hope this is not a trendy that will continue.

10 year old fashion designer!

Cecilia Cassani wearing a piece from her latest collection called Boat

Cecilia Cassini may appear to be your average 5th grader but she is in fact a fashion child prodigy! At the tender age of 10 she is already on her way to being a leading fashion designer.

After her first trip to Paris as a baby she began reading the biographies of famed European designers such as Valentino, Christian Dior and her idol Coco Chanel and soon thereafter, she began her quest at being one of the greatest designers of her time.

Her designing began at age 6 after she received a sewing machine as a birthday gift. Today she designs clothes for girls ranging from tiny toddlers to tweens. Her clothes have even been bought by celebrity Denise Richards for her kids! This week, Cecilia sold her newest collection of dresses to Fred Segal’s in Santa Monica. And get this! Yesterday she hosted her very own trunk show at Tough Cookies Children's Boutique where she sold over 50 of her pieces in 3 hours!

First Tavi Gevinson and now Cecilia Cassini.... Is it just me or are fashionistas getting younger and younger?
