"The Last Collection" McQueen FW 10/11

In a private, small showing in Paris this week the house of Alexander McQueen showcased the “Last Collection” of the great designer himself who tragically passed away earlier this year. With a total of just 16 pieces it was definitely much fewer than normal for McQueen but was still a lovely show nonetheless. Those of you who follow McQueen could probably observe some similarities in this latest collection and his FW 2010/11 Menswear collection within the motifs. According to his close business associate and personal friend Sarah Burton, at the time of his death, the collection was approximately 80 percent complete, meaning that the majority of what we saw was pure McQueen genius with limited interference.
Though I both understand and respect the decision of his family, friends and colleagues to keep this show as exclusive and minimal as possible, I also think that Lee would have wanted to continue his signature trend of maximizing his shows through mass media such as the internet in order to have his fans feel just as important as the bourgeoisies editors invited to sit in the front row.
RIP ♥
